Just Camping and Stuff

Its wash day… and all is quiet.

Well where else would you put the hammock.

Doesn’t seem to have bothered Jess though.

 

Meanwhile Ben muses.

 

Enough with the musing – its table tennis time.

Ben with the ball stuck to his hand.

Amazing huh Jess.

 

And now back to the table tennis.

 

Ben – looking suspiciously like Aaron.

 

Now that I’m exhausted its my time in the hammock.

 

What do you mean I’m on the ground. Laughing – huh! I’ll show you, just let me get out of this thing.

 

Boing – ok, ok so it works properly for Ben.

 

And time to play with fire in the BBQ.

Chartres Cathedral

I think you can tell when I’m not working as there is no photo of the front of this magnificent building. Oh well – we’ll start inside then.

Moving faster than the background – for a change

The inside was magnificent with a stone path maze on the floor – an amazing frieze around the back of the choral / altar area depicting the life of Jesus.

Not to mention the ceiling – recently cleaned. You can see the difference of removing 800 odd years of candle soot.

The windows were the most spectacular things though – absolutely huge and very very intricate with magnificent colours.

Outside watching us have our baguette lunch a bronze statue of an old bishop.

Like the statue Ben can’t move fast enough and is caught saying ‘hey’!!

 

Meanwhile Jess reads…

Day 1 in Huttopia

Out into the Senonches forest for a bike ride – Ben tries to get out of shot.

Jessica arrives eventually on her very heavy and too small bike – which is impossible to change gears on… True – I tried.

Back towards the camp we find a little jump and I try my best to get air.

 

Jess tries too – but as the bike weights more than mine…. good effort though.

 

Back in time for tea. Pasta and sauce with bacon bits.

 

Just so the rest of the kitchen doesn’t get jealous… a picture of that too.

OK so here’s the washing area as well. Got to be fair after all.

 

And to finish the day – Jess muses by the lake as the sun goes down.

 

Getting to Huttopia

Off to France we go saying good-bye to the white cliffs of Dover.

To pass the time Ben starts with dominos.

All lined up and ready to fall.

Meanwhile Jess reads…

Finally with the car and trailer loaded its time to drive off the ferry and on to the wrong side of the road.

Four hours later we arrive at Senonches Huttopia, find our pitch and unload the trailer.

And lay out the tents ready for building.

One done, two to go.

Seems very clean at the moment… but finally they are all up and we are starving but have no food!!

Being holiday season in France all the restaurants in Senonches are closed and we find a pizzeria open in La Loupe about 10 km away. Bring it back – and demolish them.
